Charleston Promise Neighborhood has created Inspirational Pathways, an arts-based enrichment program at Sanders-Clyde Elementary School. Fifth graders participating in Inspirational Pathways visit Redux Contemporary Arts Center to learn about the artistic process and to become inspired to express themselves creatively through various art media.

This year, students met and interviewed four Redux artists: Paige Feigley, Mark Stetler, Kerry Steele, and myself. The young scholars familiarized themselves with our work and process in order to decide and vote on who should create a piece of art to represent their graduating class, which will remain at Sanders Clyde for future classes to enjoy. I was THRILLED to be chosen as the 2018 Inspirational Pathways artist.

I'm so thankful to have been a part of this program. I can remember being a 5th grader, and I know what a difference creative programs can make in a young student's life. I firmly believe that creative outlets are invaluable to any curriculum, and I found the efforts by Charleston Promise Neighborhood and Sanders Clyde to be exceptional. The students and staff I met are very special people and being chosen to represent the 2018 class and Inspirational Pathways program is humbling and wonderful. Congrats to the class of 2018, I cant wait to see what you create!
